Study Abroad at DIS and enhance your major, broaden your horizons, and acquire valuable cross-cultural skills and experiences with other motivated, curious and energetic students from selective U.S. colleges and universities. Learn and experience Europe through forward-thinking academic study abroad programs and courses, integrated study tours across Europe, unique accommodation options and an extensive cultural immersion program.
DIS – Danish Institute for Study Abroad is a government-recognized, high-quality study abroad program established in 1959. All DIS courses and academic programs are intellectually stimulating and challenging – and are all taught in English. But at DIS, study abroad is not solely about academics, it is about providing a one-of-a-kind opportunity for students to experience new situations and build and develop leadership skills for a globalized world. That is why DIS is dedicated to providing the complete study abroad experience.
This program focuses on cross-cultural understanding of the relationship between theory and practice in childcare institutions. Enrich and develop your critical thinking skills through investigating and reflecting on current issues in international child development and education.
The Child Diversity and Development program will allow you to:
Choose one of the two core courses based on your interests in the discipline
Develop interpersonal competencies by engaging actively with a Danish childcare institution, through the experiential focus of the practicum course
Travel with your classmates and DIS faculty on course-integrated study tours to Western Denmark and either Istanbul or Stockholm
- Become exposed to cross-cultural European educational methods by visiting practitioners, researchers, and childcare institutions
This program utilizes the same grading scale and credit system as the USA.
Study abroad is all about getting a taste for the new, and experiencing something different from the normal campus life at your home university. If you are looking for something a bit different and a little off the beaten path, a study abroad semester, summer or year at DIS, which is located in the heart of Wonderful Copenhagen, offers a unique study abroad experience.
Aside from the many Cultural Immersion Options offered through DIS, you are encouraged to discover Copenhagen for yourself, so the city really comes alive and, most importantly, becomes ‘your home’ during your time in Denmark. Copenhagen is a friendly, open city crammed with cool and cute cafés, hip bars, varied clubs hosting international bands and acts that are regularly in town, sweet clothing stores and a plethora of parks and clean beaches. Also due to an excellent transport system, compact city center (where DIS is located) and bicycle paths practically everywhere, the life and soul of Copenhagen are easy to discover and explore.
Life in Copenhagen:

Thanks to an excellent transport system, compact city center, bicycle paths practically everywhere and DIS’ central location, the life and soul of Copenhagen are easy to discover.
While abroad, students continue to pay their Case tuition rather than the tuition at their new institution. In addition there are several expenses students’ financial aid can potentially help to fund. These are listed in the attachments below
