About DIS:

Study Abroad at DIS and enhance your major, broaden your horizons, and acquire valuable cross-cultural skills and experiences with other motivated, curious and energetic students from selective U.S. colleges and universities. Learn and experience Europe through forward-thinking academic study abroad programs and courses, integrated study tours across Europe, unique accommodation options and an extensive cultural immersion program.

DIS – Danish Institute for Study Abroad is a government-recognized, high-quality study abroad program established in 1959. All DIS courses and academic programs are intellectually stimulating and challenging – and are all taught in English. But at DIS, study abroad is not solely about academics, it is about providing a one-of-a-kind opportunity for students to experience new situations and build and develop leadership skills for a globalized world. That is why DIS is dedicated to providing the complete study abroad experience.

Academics:

Whether or not you dream of building your career in the corporate world or being an entrepreneur, this program offers you experience in analyzing and understanding
how European businesses operate. One core course focuses on the unique strategic aspects of running a business in Europe compared to the U.S. and how the local environment impacts these ventures. The other core course takes a look at the main tools and skills required to successfully start up a scalable business venture in a globalized business environment.

The International Business program will allow you to:
  • Boost your resumé by gaining impressive hands-on experience working on projects with businesses in Copenhagen on real-life case scenarios and presenting solutions

  • Travel with DIS faculty on course-integrated study tours in Denmark and Europe meeting with leaders and decision makers in key business clusters in Europe building their insights into your projects and practical assignments

  • Gain resources for your career through International Career Night and the International Career and Resource Building Workshop hosted by DIS in conjunction with local business experts

  • Network with your peers from schools across the U.S. in dynamic team projects, business visits, panels, and workshops throughout the semester

This program is right for you if you are a student in business, economics, finance, marketing, management, or related disciplines with a strong interest in acquiring business knowledge and skills from an international, cross-cultural, and globalized perspective.

This program utilizes the same grading scale and credit system as the USA.

Student Life:

Study abroad is all about getting a taste for the new, and experiencing something different from the normal campus life at your home university. If you are looking for something a bit different and a little off the beaten path, a study abroad semester, summer or year at DIS, which is located in the heart of Wonderful Copenhagen, offers a unique study abroad experience.

Aside from the many Cultural Immersion Options offered through DIS, you are encouraged to discover Copenhagen for yourself, so the city really comes alive and, most importantly, becomes ‘your home’ during your time in Denmark. Copenhagen is a friendly, open city crammed with cool and cute cafés, hip bars, varied clubs hosting international bands and acts that are regularly in town, sweet clothing stores and a plethora of parks and clean beaches. Also due to an excellent transport system, compact city center (where DIS is located) and bicycle paths practically everywhere, the life and soul of Copenhagen are easy to discover and explore.

Life in Copenhagen:

Copenhagen is a metropolis of 1.8 million people. It is the capital of Denmark and the center of the Danish-Swedish Øresund Region, with a population of 3.8 million. Yet it has an inviting small-town atmosphere of friendliness, intimacy and safety.

A dense network of walking streets, squares and waterfronts cover the old downtown area where DIS is located. Denmark may be an ultra-efficient country, but Danes know how to relax and have fun. You will truly enjoy the cozy vibe of this happening European capital.

Finances:

While abroad, students continue to pay their Case tuition rather than the tuition at their new institution. In addition there are several expenses students’ financial aid can potentially help to fund. These are listed in the attachments below
